John King Construction, Ltd. served as the general contractor for the City of Round Rock’s Fire Station No. 1, working in collaboration with McKinney York Architects to deliver a durable, purpose-built facility designed to support the daily demands of modern fire service.

The 13,969 square-foot station was constructed with a focus on rapid response, firefighter health, and long-term reliability. JKC coordinated the apparatus bay buildout to improve emergency egress and driver visibility, while executing a layout that separates the apparatus bay from living quarters to reduce exhaust and carcinogen migration.

Interior spaces were built to support 24/7 operations, including individual dorm rooms, single-user restrooms, and durable, low maintenance finishes. Community impacts were addressed through the installation of an acoustic wall to help mitigate siren noise. Through proactive coordination and clear communication with the City and Fire Department, John King Construction delivered a high-quality fire station that supports first responders in serving their community.
