Few client relationships better reflect the value of long-term partnerships than our work with Southside Market & Barbeque, the oldest barbecue restaurant in Texas. Over the past decade, John King Construction has proudly delivered four locations for the Southside team, including three ground-up restaurants in Bastrop, Hutto, and Leander, as well as a tenant finish-out at Arbor Walk in Austin.
Working alongside Hoover & Associates, each project was tailored to preserve Southside’s iconic Texas character while supporting the operational demands of a high-volume restaurant. From the original Bastrop location in 2014 through their newest Leander restaurant in 2024, our team has helped bring the Southside brand to new communities while maintaining a consistent look, feel, and guest experience.
Our repeat work with Southside reflects the trust built through transparent communication, dependable scheduling, and quality craftsmanship. As owner Bryan Bracewell shared in his recommendation letter, John King Construction remained personally engaged throughout the process, coordinated closely with the architect, city officials, and utility providers, maintained open communication through unexpected challenges, and successfully delivered the project on schedule while accommodating last-minute requests.

- Bastrop (2014) – Ground-up construction of a 7,734 SF flagship restaurant.
- Austin – Arbor Walk (2019) – 5,754 SF tenant finish-out converting an existing retail space into a full-service restaurant.
- Hutto (2020) – Ground-up construction of a 7,313 SF restaurant within the Co-Op District.
- Leander (2024) – Ground-up construction of Southside’s newest restaurant, continuing the successful expansion of the brand.
